Life Update: Finishing My First Year at University
I thought it
was about time I posted something chit chatty for you guys, telling you all
about what I've been up to within the past year. As some of you may already
know I have just finished my first year at University studying Fashion
Marketing and have come home for a good couple of months before I need to be
back in September.
My first year
of University wasn't exactly what I expected, I always thought because I’m an
incredibly shy person that I’d never really fit in and I’d have a hard time
being away from home. I guess I must just be stronger than I thought as I spent
the first couple of days crying but then when I met everyone on my course and
met my now friendship group it all made it a hell of a lot easier.
Don’t get me
wrong the work was hard and caused many tears but if I‘d known three years ago,
where I am now I never would’ve believed it. Sixteen year old me was so unsure
of where I wanted to go in life and what I wanted to do, which was so unhelped
by my secondary school who tried to force us to pick exactly which field we
wanted to go into in such little time. If it wasn’t for going to University open days and reading
through tons of prospectus’s, I wouldn’t have ever known about Fashion Marketing
and found what I wanted to do just buy the quick read of a page.
So I guess
what I’m trying to say is... I’m so happy with how far I’ve come within my course
and that I've finally found what I was meant to do with my life. If you’re reading
this at an age where you are unsure of what you are wanting to do, just carry
on and something will pop up out of nowhere, when you least expect it and it may be
the best thing that’s ever happened to you.
If you’re
reading this preparing yourself for University in September, my advice for you
is always be yourself, go out to the
fresher’s events, make friends but most importantly work hard! It’s not easy to
move away from home and straight away go into a course you may not know very well but keep your head down, work to the best of your ability and that’s all that anyone
can ask of you!
I'm moving away for uni to finish off with a BA in costume after doing two years of fashion at foundation level and yes I found it extremely hard to deal with the workload after the first year. But when you enter into the second year, you have that first-year experience behind you so you know how to be better organised and how to improve on your own work xx
ReplyDeleteExactly! I know how hard it will be moving into 2nd and 3rd years but I'm so determined to do my best and work as hard as I can! I hope all goes well for you at your Uni lovely!! xx
